Sara Escott was awarded an Artists in Education grant from the Ontario Arts council for the 2016/2017 school year.

Through the Artists in Education program, the OAC supports professional artists to deliver hands-on arts education projects in the classroom. This program subsidizes over 80% of the costs to deliver creative arts workshops. The cost to the schools is only $11.25/ hour ($281.25 per 25-hour project).

Sara is currently booking school programs for the 2016/2017 school year.

Her workshop Theatre for Social Change will engage students in movement, images, stories and theatre. In addition, she incorporates mindfulness meditation and movement exercises into her sessions to help students address real-life issues and develop self-awareness.  Over the course of 5 sessions, students will explore a theme theatrically; learning about image theatre, movement, storytelling, theatre, and mindfulness. Her goal is to offer a supported and dynamic way for students to explore issues they are experiencing as individuals and as a group and to identify ways to change the narrative.
